Highway 34 reconstruction meeting on Wednesday in Madison

The South Dakota Department of Transportation, along with the city of Madison and T & R Contracting, will hold an open house style public meeting for the Highway 34 (or 2nd Street) reconstruction project on Wednesday, March 23rd in Madison.

The meeting will be held at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse.

The $6.8 million project will reconstruct one mile of Highway 34 from Highland Avenue to Washington Avenue in Madison. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, March 28th, and includes grading, storm sewer, water main, sanitary sewer, curb and gutter, traffic signals, roadway lighting and concrete surfacing.

The open house style public meeting will be held at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The open house will be informal with a short presentation at 6 p.m. with staff available to discuss issues and answer questions regarding the reconstruction project. During this time, residents will also have the opportunity to present written comments regarding the project.
