The tour includes five homes plus refreshments at the Smith-Zimmermann Museum.
The highlight of the tour includes both the holiday decorations featured in the homes and the homes themselves. The homes on the tour include 2 historic homes, one new log cabin, and two homes that highlight creative decorating in established homes. Homes on the tour include:
- Mickie Kreidler and Gary Zay (the former Barger home)
- Ginny Freitag and Dale Droge (the former Berther home)
- Rochelle and Gary Johnson
- Roy and Virginia Johnson
- Donna and Dick Fawbush
Tickets for the home tour (advance tickets -- $8 each) are available from area retailers, including Alverson Antiques (Chester), Grapevine and Grapevine Floral, Madison Nursery, Montgomery Furniture, and Sample Our Flowers. The day of the tour, tickets ($10 each) are available at the Smith-Zimmermann Museum only.
Questers is an International organization that promotes the preservation and restoration of antiques and history. In the past, the funds raised from this Prairie Pasque event have gone to local restoration and renovation projects, including the Smith-Zimmermann Museum, the Chapel Car Emmanuel at Prairie Village, the Madison Public Library, and the Depot. At the state level, the funds have helped support renovation projects in Vermillion, Aberdeen, Canton, Pierre, Yankton, Belle Fourche and Watertown in recent years. The Prairie Pasque chapter also supports international preservation and restoration projects and scholarships. The Christmas Tour of Homes, which is held every other year, is the Prairie Pasque chapter’s only fundraiser.
