The annual gaming convention includes game playing, vendors, and an academic conference with guest speakers. The event is free and open to the public.
Students in the DSU Gaming Club run Nanocon, which is in its ninth year. Robert Balder, nationally renowned writer and producer of the webcomic “Erfworld,” is this year’s keynote speaker. Nanocon holds the first annual Workshop on Integrated Design in Games (IDiG), a formal, peer-reviewed academic workshop.
Attendees play games during the event, which include board games, card games, role-playing games and video games. The DSU Gaming Club also raises proceeds for Child’s Play, an organization that purchases games and toys for children in hospitals including Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.
