All young people from ages 12 to 16 are encouraged to attend the safety classes. Youngsters in South Dakota are required to successfully complete a HuntSAFE course and possess a HuntSAFE card while hunting. Children who will turn 12 by Dec. 1 and who will hunt this year after Sept. 1 are also required to take the safety class. No pre-registration is required for the classes.
