All young people from ages 12 to 16 are encouraged to attend the safety classes. Adults are welcome to attend as well. Students must attend both session. Youngsters in South Dakota are required to successfully complete a HuntSAFE course and possess a HuntSAFE card while hunting. Children who will turn 12 by Dec. 31 and who will hunt this year after Sept. 1 are also required to take the safety class. No pre-registration is required for the classes.
