Montrose Man Escapes Train/Tractor Accident With Only Minor Back Injuries

A Montrose man sustained minor injuries and could be looking at a $104 traffic ticket after his tractor was struck by a train early Wednesday morning.

Steve Painter was traveling West on 69th Street on his Cat MT865 tractor and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to Lincoln County Deputy Ty Dairy.

Dairy says the train was derailed, and Painters tractor was turned around in one ditch and the earthmover he was hauling was in the other ditch.

The scene was cleared at around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon according to Dairy. Painter escaped with only minor back injuries.
