Check Your Vents

NorthWestern Energy is urging its customers and all who heat their homes with natural gas or who have other fuel burning appliances to make sure their exhaust vents are cleared from ice or the blowing and drifting snow.
Northwestern spokesman Tom Glanzer says blocked vents could result in a loss of heat or buildup of deadly carbon monoxide in the home.
Customers are also encouraged to clear the snow away from natural gas meters to prevent the natural gas regulator from freezing up.
Glanzer says the path will make it easier to read the meter or to shut off the gas service in case of an emergency.
Glanzer says sewer vents should also be checked and ice should be removed.
