Child Support Loophole Patch
Posted on Thursday, January 22, 2009
Senator Russ Olson of Madison is working to find a way to enforce child support orders involving self-employed non-custodial parents.
Normally, if necessary, a non-custodial parent who is under a court order to pay child support and doesn't, can have wages garnished to get the payments made. The problem, Olson says, is that isn't done in the case of a self-employed non-custodial parent.
He says he is attempting to eliminate that loophole. Olson serves on the Senate Education Committee, the Senate State Affairs Committee and chairs the Senate Commerce Committee.
