Aerostar Layoffs Temporary

Aerostar President Mark West says the Madison operation of his company is going through a slow period that he expects to be temporary.
Forty-two workers at the Madison plant have been laid off since the first part of January.
West says mid-winter is traditionally a slow time for apparel manufacturers, but he says this slow period at the Madison plant is a result of the end of a military contract.
He says the Madison plant has been manufacturing protective gear for the military.
He says he expects another contract to come along in the next few weeks.
At that point West says that the Madison operation will begin to gear up to its previous level.
West says the Madison Aerostar operation usually employs up to about sixty workers.
