The Senate on Thursday voted 25-10 to kill a bill that would have prohibited public universities or technical schools from making any restrictions on firearms on their campuses. Supporters of SB82 said restrictions violate students' constitutional rights. Opponents said governing bodies of the campuses should be able to make reasonable restrictions for public safety.
