WAPA Electric Rate Increased

The Madison City Commission has acknowledged the receipt of a letter from the Western Area Power Administration that officially informs the city of a 25% increase in electric power rates.

Madison City Finance Officer Jeff Heinemeyer told the Commission the increase is already accounted for in the current budget and rate structure in Madison.

The new WAPA rate took effect on Sunday and will remain in effect until December 31, 2013.
