Falcon Lays Off 14 in Madison

Falcon Plastics President Jay Bender says his company is restructuring its management team and eliminating 14 positions at the Madison Plant. Bender says the actions are being taken because of reduced orders and projected sales levels.

Many of the employees at Falcon Plastics' Madison facility have been on a 32-hour week for the past few weeks. Bender says the changes should allow the remaining workforce to return to a 40-hour work week.

Many of the employees affected by the layoff have been offered the opportunity to submit a transfer request to the Brookings' facility.

Bender says Falcon's employees are like family. He says "We know that this is difficult for every employee affected and their families." Bender says Falcon is not immune to the national and global economic crisis that is occurring.

Bender says these steps must be taken to preserve the long term health of the Madison Plant and the corporation. He says Falcon has a healthy relationship with its customers and is working hard to develop new relationships and opportunities for the future growth of the Madison operation.
