The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $66,500 to the city of Madison.
The funds will be used to conduct an environmental assessment of the proposed parallel taxiway at Madison Municipal Airport.
Aviation Improvement Program funding comes from a variety of user fees and fuel taxes that are deposited into the Aviation Trust Fund.
Each year these funds are distributed to airports ranging from the large commercial airports to smaller general aviation airports to assist with construction or other eligible improvements.
The FAA is a division of the US Department of Transportation.
