Olson Appointed

District 8 Senator Russ Olson has been named to the State-Tribal relations committee.

The purpose of the committee is to continuously study the relationship between the state and its political subdivisions and the tribes and their tribal governments.

The committee gives particular study and consideration to matters considering jurisdiction, taxation, gaming, economic development and community relations.

The committee also serves as a forum for the discussion of issues of mutual concern to the state and the tribes and attempts to foster state-tribal cooperation.

The committee may present draft legislation and policy recommendations to the Legislative Research Council Executive Board to effectuate its mission.
