Emergency Generators for Lake County

Lake County Emergency Management Director Don Thompson is in the process of procuring a total of five towable generators to be used in times of emergency when conventional power is interrupted.

The generators would be used to power emergency services in Madison, Nunda, Wentworth, Chester and Ramona.

Thompson says bad weather often leads to large scale power outages.

He says generators for Madison, Nunda and Wentworth are in place.

He says the one for Chester is on order, and the one for Ramona will have to wait for the arrival of more Homeland Security money or another funding source.

Unfortunately, Thompson says, the 2009 allocation has been pulled in to state government to fund the upgrade of the new state radio system.
