Lewis and Clark Water Gets 27-Million

The Lewis and Clark Regional Water System is set to get twenty-seven million dollars in federal funding this year. That amount was set in the omnibus bill that was finalized by the Senate over the weekend.
Lewis and Clark Executive Director Troy Larson says that would be a record for them. Larson has said the project needs thirty five million dollars in funding each year to stay on track.
Last year the Bush Administration zeroed out their funding.
He says the level this year is another big step forward. Larson says if they also get some stimulus money from the Bureau of Reclamation, they could make up some lost construction time. The project will pipe water from wells near Vermillion to Madison and other towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.
