More Money for Madison in Omnibus

Among the many individual projects included in the 410-billion dollar Omnibus Spending Bill approved by the Senate is 190-thousand dollars to an industrial park expansion for the Lake Area Improvement Corporation in Madison.

The Omnibus also includes 285-thousand dollars for South Dakota State University's Health Sciences Initiative to fund a two-year research and scholarship project specialized to address South Dakota health care needs.

Senator Tim Johnson helped the prevailing side clear the needed 60-vote hurdle for the measure.

Senator John Thune voted no.

The Senate passed the measure 62-35 and sent it to the president.
