East Dakota Water Development District's Water Watch has had some success and will be expanding.
Water Watch uses volunteers who are trained to take water samples from lakes to test for various bacteria.
East Dakota Manager Jay Gilbertson says the experimental program was started on Lakes Madison, Brandt, Herman and Round Lake, .because the state and other authorities don't have the staff to do the sampling.
Gilbertson says Lakes; Thompson, Preston, and Whitewood as well as a few lakes in the Northeast will be added to the experiment.
