Stimulus Injected New Energy

Senator Russ Olson says the approval of the federal stimulus package gave new energy to the Legislature as it struggled through the budget process in recent weeks.
The General Appropriations Bill appropriates money for the ordinary expenses of the legislative, judicial, and executive departments of the state, the expenses of state institutions, interest on the public debt and for schools.
Olson says the legislature was able to restore funding to several programs that were slated to be reduced or eliminated.
Governor Rounds signed the nearly four-billion dollar General Appropriations bill earlier this week.
The measure was approved last week by the Legislature.
