Johns Indicted in Shooting

A grand jury at Parker has indicted Ethan Johns on murder charges in the shooting death of former Lake County Sheriff's Deputy Chad Mechels, who was a Turner County Deputy at the time.

The 19-year-old Johns is charged with alternate counts of first-degree murder and second-degree murder.

Johns is accused of shooting and killing Deputy Mechels on March 15th when the deputy went to a farm west of Marion to check on Johns' well-being.

Johns is being held on a one-million dollar bond.
