License Plate Deadline Extended

South Dakotans whose last names begin with the letters F, G or J have until Monday April 6th to renew their license plates.

Motor Vehicles Division Director Debra Hillmer says the blizzard which dropped significant snow across South Dakota, and caused some county offices to close may be preventing vehicle owners in many areas from traveling to those offices that did remain open.

In response to that situation officials have extended the deadline for individuals whose vehicle license plates were up for renewal by March 31st to Monday, April 6th.

Those taking advantage of the extension period are reminded to bring the necessary documents with them to their county treasurers office when renewing their plates.

Hillmer says online renewal is not available for March, after March 21st.
