Natural Gas Costs Decline

The cost of natural gas has dropped over fifty percent since last fall to under four dollars per therm in some cases.

Most energy companies tried to lock in what they thought were low prices last summer to even out possible price spikes.

Mark Reinders of Mid American Energy says his company has had a hard time trying to out-guess the market.

Reinders says the low prices now will probably be reflected in next winter's bills.

He says the drops in prices this winter helped moderate overall energy costs for their customers.

Mid American serves about 8000 natural gas customers in an area from Flandreau to Yankton.
