DSU Has New Vice President for University Advancement

Dakota State University will have a new Vice President for University Advancement.

DSU President Doug Knowlton announced the hiring of Judith M. Payne in a news release Friday morning.

Payne will lead the Office for University Advancement which includes the DSU Foundation, Alumni Association, Government Relations, University Public Relations and E-Communications efforts. She will officially begin her duties as Vice President for Advancement on April 13th.

Payne is a 1981 graduate of Dakota State and most recently worked for Black Hills Special Services Cooperative. She has served as Secretary of Transportation for Governor Rounds, Secretary of Revenue for Governor Janklow and in various other posts for Janklow and Mickelson.

Prior to moving to Pierre Payne worked in the office of Wenk Foods and was active in the Madison community.

Payne has served on the Dakota State University Foundation Board of Trustees since 2006. She takes over from former Development Director Chris Giles who left the position to resume a private law practice in Madison.
