Highway 34 four-lane on Herseth-Sandlin's Earmark List

The proposed South Dakota Highway 34 four-lane expansion from Madison east to I-29 Lake and Moody Counties has made it to Representative Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin's earmark list.

The 1.1-million dollars in the earmarked proposal is for rights-of-way and utility line relocation for the project.

"Highway 34 four the Future" Chairman John Goeman says he is pleased the project is making it to Herseth-Sandlin's list.

In her earmark request Herseth-Sandlin says the 13.3-mile upgrade will not only bring safety to the public, but economic development opportunities for existing and future development and diversification of the economic base.

With the growth of Sioux Falls and average daily traffic counts close to 3500, Herseth-Sandlin says expansion of Highway 34 will allow for continued growth and enhance road safety.
