Madison Guard to Deploy

The 211th Engineer Company of the South Dakota National Guard in Madison and De Smet has received official notification that it will be deployed for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The unit will mobilize 104 soldiers in September to conduct mobility, counter mobility and survivability tasks and to provide general engineering support to a maneuver unit or a support brigade.

The unit is expected to report to Fort McCoy Wisconsin in mid-September to complete all required training prior to deployment overseas.
