Recount UPDATE

There will be a recount in Madison's City Commission Election.

The date of the recount has changed.

City Finance Officer Jeff Heinemeyer says the recount will be conducted Friday, May 1st at 9 a.m. at City Hall.

Heinemeyer says Myron Downs filed the request for a recount Thursday morning.

On Election Night, April 15th, City Commissioner Karen Lembcke and newcomer Nick Abraham were the apparent unofficial winners.

Lembcke garnered 332 votes and Nick Abraham received 291 votes.

Downs came in third with 284 votes, just seven votes short of Abraham's total.

Those results became official Monday night when the City Commission, acting as the canvassing board, canvassed the results.

Heinemeyer says the recount will be conducted next Thursday morning at 9 a.m. and City Hall.
