The recount in the Madison city election is scheduled to begin this morning at 9 a.m. at City Hall.
City Finance Officer Jeff Heinemeyer says the Recount Board made up of people chosen by the three candidates in the election will meet in the City Commission meeting room.
On Election Night, April 15th City Commissioner Karen Lembcke and newcomer Nick Abraham were the apparent unofficial winners.
Lembcke garnered 332 votes and Nick Abraham received 291 votes.
Myron Downs who requested the recount came in third with 284 votes, just seven votes short of Abraham's total and well within the two percent margin to allow for a recount.
Heinemeyer says the results of the work of the recount board will be final with no further action by the City Commission necessary.
