Election Outcome Unchanged

The outcome of the Madison City Commission election is not changed as a result of the recount conducted at City Hall Friday morning.

A recount board made up of Roger Hillestad, Nick Prostrollo and Doug Abraham went through all the ballots from the April 14th Madison city election, changing the numbers slightly, but not changing the outcome.

In the end City Commissioner Karen Lembcke's total remained the same at 332 votes.

One ballot was not counted in the recount because it was marked in three places when only two marks were needed to vote for two.

After the recount Nick Abraham had 294 votes compared to 291 votes on election night and Myron Downs had 283 votes compared to 284 votes on election night Heinemeyer says the results of the work of the recount board is final with no further action needed by the City Commission.
