Highway Funds Dwindle, Construction Costs Skyrocket

Many states are nervously watching their highway funds dwindle as gas tax revenue stays flat, and construction costs skyrocket.

South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds says so far, the state is keeping up.

Rounds says there could be some problems down the road.

The Governor says, unless something changes at the federal level, the state will be facing increasing road construction costs with dwindling gas tax revenues.

Crews recently completed resurfacing work on Highway 34 just east of Madison, with more projects planned for next year.
