Lakes Turn Down District

Voters who live along Lakes Madison and Brandt have rejected a proposed water project district on the lakes.
The election was held Saturday.
The vote was 102 in favor and 228 opposed to the proposal.
Robert Todd of the Water Quality Committee says the effort raised awareness of lake problems and issues.
Todd says the committee will continue its water quality monitoring effort as much as it can and continue to work toward improvement of the lakes as it can.
