Sherwin Linton Returning To Prairie Village

Sherwin Linton will be returning to Prairie Village to perform at the 47th annual Steam Threshing Jamboree.

At a meeting on July 12, the Prairie Village board announced that Linton would return to do a second benefit concert to raise money for the Wentworth Depot.

He last performed at Prairie Village during Railroad Days. The concert was the kickoff of fund-raising for the renovation of the Wentworth Depot and Engine No. 29.

Linton used to open for Johnny Cash and the two were good friends. During concerts, Linton and his wife Pam perform a tribute to Johnny and June Cash.

Linton lived in Wentworth while his father headed a railroad section gang. The Wentworth Depot was a Union Depot serving two railroads. Constructed in 1915, it was saved by area regional railroad preservationists and moved to Prairie Village. It is the last Union Depot in South Dakota.

Linton will perform on Aug. 29 at 8:15 p.m. The South Dakota Old Time Fiddlers will play from 6-8 p.m.
