Reworked Zoning Ordinance Proposed

The Madison City Planning Commission and the City Commission held an open house meeting Tuesday evening to get a look at a proposed Zoning Ordinance for the City of Madison.

The rework of the ordinance is the result of six months of meetings with the City Planning Commission, reading and working through the 1996 ordinance.

1st District Planning Executive Director Todd Kays and an assistant presented the the proposed rework of the general ordinance.

He says the proposal should be more user friendly and readable.

The Madison City Commission and the City Planning Commission will hold a joint hearing on August 13th at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

The City Commission will give final consideration to the proposed ordinance on August 24th.

If approved the ordinance will be published on August 27th and take affect on September 16th.
