Posted on Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Madison Community Hospital will hold the semi-annual blood drive on Aug. 11-12 from 7:00AM-10:30AM and 12:00PM-2:30PM. The bloodmobile will be parked in the west parking lot at the hospital.
Blood donors must be at least 17-years-old and must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and should eat a good meal before giving blood.
Donors must provide an ID (bring donor card if possible) and cannot have a cold, fever, flu or sore throat. They also cannot have had a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months.
Blood donations can be safely given every 56 days. The blood donated at Madison comes back to serve the local community. Donations are needed as supplies are used daily in surgeries, traumas and cancer treatments.
Dairy Queen will donate 1 pint of ice cream with each pint of blood given. Donors are encouraged to bring family and friends to also donate blood.
