Smoke Testing to Resume

Smoke tests on the sewer collection system in the northeastern part of Madison in the next week or two.

The area to be tested is the part of town east of Egan Avenue and north of the railroad tracks.

Public Works Director Heath Voneye says the testing is all that is in the budget at this time Voneye says the testing and possible repairs are being done because the extra water that leaks into the system or is pumped in costs more money to treat.

Weather permitting officials say the process should take about two to three weeks.
