Former Lieutenant Governor Carole Hillard is being remembered as a solid, team player.
Hillard died today in a hospital in Switzerland following a fall on a boat last week while she vacationed on the Adriatic Sea.
Senator Dave Knudsen of Sioux Falls was Chief of Staff for former Governor Bill Janklow.
He says Hillard was considered a vital part of the administration.
Knudsen says he got to know Hillard away from the State Capitol too.
The 71 year old Hillard was Lieutenant Governor from 1995 through 2003.
She was also in the state senate from 1991 to 1994.
Governor Rounds has asked that flags fly at half-staff until Hillard's burial.
