Dakota State University in Madison has a new $1,000,000 donation to spend. The Dakota State University Foundation announced Monday it has received a $1,000,000 gift from an anonymous donor, in support of DSU 2.0, The Capital Campaign.
Not only is this gift the first million-dollar gift specifically to the capital campaign, the anonymous gift is also one of the largest ever received by Dakota State. The donors have asked that the gift be used to establish endowments for academic and athletic scholarships.
Judy Payne, Vice President for University Advancement at DSU, said the gift will give many students an opportunity to have their dreams become realities.
Payne said the $37,000,000 dollar Capital Campaign is necessary to provide funding for the things that distinguish great universities, including scholarships, cutting edge research initiatives, outstanding faculty, and state of the art facilities.
Last week DSU was ranked as number 1 public baccalaureate college in the Midwest, according to U.S. News & World Report magazine. It was the 4th consecutive year that DSU had received that honor.
