Tomatoes Are Getting Sick

How are the tomatoes in your garden looking? If you've been struggling with black spots and dead leaves, you're not alone. Local gardeners have been noticing the sickly tomatoes all summer.

Moody County Extension Agronomist Paul Johnson says the tomatoes have a cold. Different kinds of viruses have been showing up in tomato plants, Johnson says the best way to tell what type of virus your plant my have is to take an infected leaf into your local extension office to be tested.

Johnson says the fruit of a most infected plants are still good to eat, but an infected plant will produce fewer tomatoes.
