Mountain Lion Hunting Season Begins Today

The mountain lion hunting season starts today in South Dakota. The bag limits have been expanded this year to 35 total lions, or 15 females, which ever comes first.

Lynn Sadler is President of the Mountain Lion Foundation, based in California.

She disagrees with the premise of the hunting season in South Dakota.

Sadler says those officials in charge of game management are short sighted.

Sadler says people have a responsibility to provide habitat for the mountain lions, and other wildlife.

State wildlife officials have said the limits are supposed to keep the Black Hills lion population stable at 200 to 225 cats.
