Corn Field Fire Causes Power Outage

A fire in a corn field west of Madison is causing 60 Sioux Valley Energy customers to be without power. Shortly before 2PM this afternoon, Sioux Valley crews got a phone call from 911 alerting them that the fire was affecting their power poles. Officials at Sioux Valley say if the crews are able to do some back feeding, those 60 customers could be seeing power by around 3PM, but if the poles are completely burned down, it could take much longer. Sioux Valley shut the poles off so that fire crews could extinguish the flames without fear of electrocution.
