Credit card solicitation - SCAM alert

The Madison Police Dept has received reports from citizens receiving calls from a credit card company advising that their cards are in good standing. Due to their good credit the offer is to combine all your credit card debt to one card for 3.9%.

Those people that have caller ID have reported that the number calling is a local Madison number. Attempts to track the actual number and location have been unsuccessful.

We would like to advise anyone who receives this type of call to simply hang up and not to release any personal information or credit card information. It is believed that in doing so would result in numerous fraudulent charges on credit cards and possibly new cards being taken out in your name.

Please pass this information along to all your friends and family so no one will fall victim to this scam.
