The grant commitment will award $600,000 to DSU in 2011 with the remaining $1.3 million to be awarded through 2014.
Dr. Josh Pauli submitted the grant to NSF under their Federal Cyber Service ‘Scholarship for Service' Program which seeks to increase the number of qualified students entering the fields of Information Assurance and Computer Security.
Cyber security specialists can apply for such Federal agencies such as The Department of Homeland Security, The National Security Agency, and The Central Intelligence Agency.
DSU is forming the Dakota State Cyber Corps and is now one of 35 institutions nationwide that take part in both the NSF Scholarship for Service (SFS) and the DoD Information Assurance Scholarship Program.
Eligible students will participate in a summer internship with an agency of the Federal Government and will be required to work for a minimum of two years in the Federal Government after graduation.
