Lewis and Clark Pushing Increased Funding

Congressional delegations from three states are pushing for increased funding for the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System.

Senator John Thune sent the letter, asking for support of the 28 million dollar appropriation in this years Senate budget and 35 million in the 2009 budget. The water supply is now estimated to cost about 500 million dollars, and will supply water to towns in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota.

Lewis and Clark Executive Director Troy Larson says they got a chance last week to sit down with Jim Nussle, head of the Office of Management and Budget.

Larson says they were told the administration wants to get projects done.

Larson says they have some work to do in explaining their project.
