Madison City Commission Approves Improvement Plan

On Monday night, the Madison City Commission approved a five-year plan for municipal infrastructure improvements.

The 2012-2016 plan, presented by City Engineer Chad Comes, included several updates based on needs, priorities, and budget changes, but still remained similar to the one approved last year for 2011-15.

Two projects scheduled for 2012 involve water main and sanitary sewer reconstruction on Center Street between Washington and Division Avenues, as well as water main replacements in the northeast part of Madison.

In 2013, the plans calls for another water main replacement project, and in 2014, the reconstruction of water main, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer on another section of Center Street between Highland and Josephine Avenue.

Comes stated plan includes a 2015 utility project and a large project in 2016 involving the reconstruction of 2nd Street from Washington to Highland Avenues.
