Two vehicles were stolen in Madison sometime between 11:00PM on Saturday, August 20th and 5:00AM on Sunday, August 21st. Keys were in both vehicles, but one was reportedly locked. One was taken from Northwest 9th Street and the other from North Division Avenue.
The vehicles were found Sunday morning when the Madison Fire Department responded to a house fire at an abandoned building just north of old Highway-34 on 459th Avenue. One vehicle was next to the house and the other was found on 459th Avenue on the way to the house fire.
The house, which is owned by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, was scheduled to be burnt down, so firefighters just monitored the blaze.
The arson and theft are currently under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Madison Police Department at 605-256-7506 or the Sheriff's Office at 605-256-7615.
