Madison Yard Waste Composting Facility
Posted on Wednesday, November 9, 2011
The City of Madison is in the process of permitting a yard waste composting facility located 1/4 mile north of HWY 34 on county road 456. This facility is designed to handle all yard and garden wastes. Residents may continue to take their yard/garden waste to this site as we work to obtain the required permit. The following items may be dropped off, free of charge, at the site for disposal: grass, leaves, branches, tree limbs, trees, garden vegetation, pumpkins and corn stalks used for decoration, un-treated wood and wooden pallets, ( no painted, stained, or pressboard wood allowed). The trees, wooden boards, pallets, and branches are turned into mulch and removed from the site. Leaves, grass clippings and garden vegetation are composted and currently spread onto city land. Residents are strongly reminded only the items listed above are allowed.
