Advisory: Winter Weather has returned expect high winds and colder temperatures.

Typical winter weather has once again come to the Lake County area. After having several weeks of dry and unseasonably warm weather, we have returned to a more normal condition for this time of the year. In most cases, this will be somewhat mild but will generate some traveling hazards.

Most of the roads in South Dakota have been impacted by the weather conditions. Motorists are advised to use caution and to be ready for changing conditions.

A wind advisory is in effect for most of the area. Strong northerly winds of 25 to 35 mph can be expected with gusts up to 40 to 45 mph. This could generate some whiteout conditions or icing of the road. Windy conditions are expected to subside by Thursday evening.

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the day generating some dangerous wind chill conditions. The temperatures will climb back up to the 30s for the weekend but are expected to drop back down into the teens for next week. Planning ahead for a safe traveling event is recommended.

Winter will still be with us for another 2 to 3 months.
