Community Center hires Brent Collins as Fitness Coordinator and promotes Desiree Dahl to Membership Specialist

The Community Center has announced the hiring of Brent Collins as Fitness Coordinator and the promotion of Desiree Dahl from Interim Fitness Coordinator to Membership Specialist. The hiring of Brent and promotion of Desiree will continue to enhance the wide variety of health, wellness, and fitness services offered at the Community Center. Brent and Desiree will start their respected positions on Monday, March 12th 2012.

Brent Collins has a Master’s degree in Kinesiology from UND along with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Idaho State University. His previous work experience includes Personal Trainer Team Lead with the UND Wellness Center, five years as the Sport Acceleration Coordinator for Center Court Fitness Club in Grand Forks, ND and over 10 years’ experience in personal training. “We’re extremely excited about Brent heading up the training services offered at the Community Center. His wide range of knowledge from personal fitness, sports enhancement training, and rehabilitation services will be a great asset to our facility users” stated the Director Aaron Walter. There was a total of 42 applications submitted for the fitness coordinator position from as far away as Washington State.

Desiree Dahl has been a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for the Community Center for the past four years and recently served as interim fitness coordinator. Desiree will oversee the member services offered at the Community Center. “Desiree’s number one goal is to help members reach their wellness goals. If they’ve been training for years or just starting, it doesn’t matter. If it’s helping members start an exercise program 1-2 days a week, train for a 5k race, or just lose a couple pounds Desiree will be here to assist”, said Aaron Walter, Director.

The Community Center is the student recreation center for Dakota State University and the public recreational facility for the City of Madison. Community Center has 3,021 community and 1,600 DSU student members. Last year the Community Center had over 200,000 visits.
