Drug take Back April 28th
Posted on Wednesday, April 18, 2012
The Drug Enforcement Administration stated that they have 348 agencies registered to collect unwanted medications throughout Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, South Dakota and Southern Illinois. This is the highest level of participation in these events so far. Approximately 20 agencies in South Dakota, including Madison, are participating.
Why do we have the Drug Take Back events?
*It's not environmentally safe to flush unwanted drugs down the drain.
*Every day, on average,2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time.
*56% of teens believe that prescription drugs are easier to get than illicit drugs.
*63% of teens believe that prescription drugs are easy to get from the medicine cabinet of family and friends.
The Drug Take Back event is April 28th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Madison Police Department. If those times are not convenient for you then you are welcome to stop in anytime before that and we will lock the unwanted drugs in our vault.
