The Madison Community Hospital announced back in 2012 its plans to build a new clinic and hospital on the south side of Madison. On Thursday, those building plans were revealed a a press conference at the Madison Public Library.
Details of the 104,000 square foot facility were presented by the Madison Hospital CEO Tammy Miller. The facility will be located on 22 acres of land that was purchased from, and partially donated by, the Ray Schultz family and lies just south of the Madison bypass and Union Avenue will be extended.
The new facility will receive some funding from the US Department of Agriculture - Rural Development toward its $33.6 million dollar estimated cost. Miller said the new facility will have 22 licensed beds in private rooms, larger departments, an MRI unit and a second x-ray machine, allowing all of its current services to still be available.
The hospital is a private, non-profit independent facility and employs close to 200 individuals.
