Advisory: Winter Weather condition returning - and Fire Dangers use caution
Posted on Monday, April 8, 2013
During this time of year we can expect a wide range of weather conditions and snow can not ruled out. Currently, most fields are covered with dry dormant grasses which can become a high fire danger on certain humidity and wind conditions. Use extreme caution with any open fire. Small sparks from any source could cause a wild land fire endangering wildlife, homes, or businesses.
Keep a close eye on the weather conditions for the next few days. If you have travel plans check the road and weather conditions of your destination. It is currently projected that we will receive approximately 6 inches of snow starting Monday night into Wednesday. High winds 20 - 35 MPH are also expected with the rain/snow mix. Anticipate rapidly changing road conditions and limited visibility which could make the conditions dangerous. There currently Winter Storm Watches posted for south central South Dakota. These watches may move further east as this develops and moves across the area.
